Namada will launch an incentivized Testnet offering 3% of its token supply. Namada, a Layer 1 blockchain that prioritizes user privacy, will offer a 3% incentive to all members. “Namada Shielded Expedition” is a testnet campaign that starts before the privacy protocol’s main net release in early 2024. It’s a multiplayer role-playing game.
Users and validators on Namada’s testnet can participate in a competitive game to evaluate the network’s consensus (CometBFT) algorithm and Sybil’s resistance. Users can take advantage of Namada’s features, which enable asset-agnostic privacy, before the main net release.
There will be an “asteroid mining race” on the testnet where players compete for ranks based on the number of ROIDs (points) they collect. The grand prize is 30,000,000 NAM tokens or 3% of the total 1,000,000,000 tokens in circulation. The Namada test net will continue to be operational until the end of the month, starting on January 15th.
The testnet incentives were made public one week after Namada announced a community airdrop, awarding 65 million (or 6.5% of the total supply) to stakeholders, academics, and developers on the Cosmos Hub and Osmosis blockchains.
Namada: What is it?
An Anoma Foundation-created proof-of-stake Layer-1 blockchain technology, Namada, was launched in the first quarter of 2024. As an element of the Cosmos ecosystem, the network aims to facilitate asset-agnostic multichain privacy by using zero-knowledge proofs for asset transfers between blockchains.
The network also features a native Ethereum bridge, which facilitates the movement of assets between networks. In May 2023, the Anoma Foundation secured $25 million in funding to extend its ecosystem further, encompassing Namada.
